In this past week, while I did not felt my best, I have been amazed at how much Scripture I have focused on about Love and Joy. I believe that there is more taught in the Bible about love and joy than any other two topics. We are encouraged to be hapy and joyful. When I am feeling my worst, God always leads someone my way, who encourages me to read a verse that will lift my heart toward love, towards His perfect love.
A verse that has been meaningful to me has been 3rd John 2-4. It says, "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth. For I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth."
The letter of 3rd John was written by John the Apostle of Jesus and has only 14 verses, They are verses filled with good advice for godly men and women. He suggests leaving a good testimony and advice for imitating what is good and not evil. As we are leaving a good testimony for our grandchildren and all those who will follow us, we will also teach them how to know and find true and honest and pure love. The world today has taught us lies about love. It is bad that our children today have such sad or pitiful examples of Christians, or Christian families to imitate. "Mom and Dad, do you want your your children to be like you?" "Are you living a life that is pleasing to to God in front of your children?" "Does pleasing God mean the most in all the world to you?"
I did not grow up in a Christian home as a child but I had a Christian grandmother who set a Godly example for Bobby and me to follow. We would hear her pray into the night and we saw how she treated her friends and neighbors. We saw how she loved. My dad and Bobby became Christians when Bobby was about 13 years old.
We have a responsibility to be God's witness in a world that does not want us to be His witness. He wants us to be like Him. He is our example and we are to be imitators of Him. Our children and our grandchildren are watching us. If their lives end up with divorces, drugs, alcoholics, etc, we have to look at who their examples are/were before them. And if we are setting those kinds of examples for our children & grandchildren, then shame on us because God is going to hold us accountable. Just as the sun reflects what it sees, our grandchildren and children reflects what they see.
I want to continually be...
Sharing His Love
Peggy
