Fall is in the air. Leaves are covering our once green yard and the beautiful green sycamores have turned to brown and my poor, sweet Bob cannot stay ahead of the leaves that keep floating to the ground. This week, he spent one whole afternoon putting all of my still blooming Spring flowers into the sun-room on the back of the house. This man really loves me a lot, he waters these flowers all year and when they are gigantic in size, he moves them inside for me to enjoy all Winter. My sun-room looks like a botanical garden and everything is still blooming. I wanted to start some new pots with the cuttings this year but he did say the "n" word to me and it was good that he did because he ran out of room to put any more pots. And yes, he continues to water and fertilize them for me. I have the most awesome and beautiful ferns and begonias anywhere, just ask my mail lady. He tries to keep up a special bed around the mail box for her to look at during the Spring.
The Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes that there is a Season for all things and we need the different seasons for reasons far beyond our meager knowledge of how things grow. I can't begin to understand all the "why's" God made things the way that He did and I know that it is not my place to question everything. But I can find joy in all the seasons. Just as I can find joy in the seasons of my life. One season builds on one another. One bloom from a beautiful plant leaves a seed for another year. One verse of Scripture added to another verse gives me more understanding. One sermon added to another sermon gives me more insight into how I can know God's will for my life.
Our precious grandson this year began 9th grade - a new season in his life. Our grandaughter will complete elementay school and will go on to Middle School in May - a new season in her life. Our beautiful niece in Texas is getting married in a couple of weeks - a new season in her life. A friend of ours in Kingsland and her husband are expecting their first grandcild in July - a wonderful new season for them. Our seasons keep changing. And with each change comes growth, joy, love and surprises that we cannot imagine. I don't want to miss my own seasons nor do I want to miss my family's and friends. I want to share in it all.
Today Bob and I walked out to his shop to look for an old wreath that I wanted to bring to life again for the fall and it suddenly dawned upon me that in only 2 months we will be taking down our Christmas decorations. We haven't even gotten them up yet and I am not ready. My shopping is 95% done but the decorations are not up. We only have a month until Thanksgiving. The seasons come and go so quickly that too many times we don't really have time to enjoy them.
Seasons. We usually think there are only 4 but truthfully, there are many. Think about your life and the different seasons that you have had and the one you are in. Don't just think about, "it's Fall!" But where are you in your walk with Christ? The Seasons of the Year are mainly to let things grow and to have time to rest between growing periods. Are you at that place in your life where God wants you to befor a growth spurt? Is He satisfied with the growth you have made this growing season of your life? The question really should not be how satisfied are you with how much growing you have done but how satisfied is He with what you have done Have you used every opportunity made available to you to serve Him? Have you used proper nutrients of Bible study and Prayer in maintained daily quiet time with the Lord.
A question asked in a recent Missions's Leader Magazine asks the question, "Can I Ever Please God?" Another question in the heading asks "Do we please God by what we do for Him, or is He pleased by who we are?
I think these are questions that we will deal with another day but while we are thinking about the Seasons of our lives, let's try to think about these questions also as well as how we can find different ways to......
Share God's Love,
Peggy
