e-mil 10/26/6

What an absolutely beautiful day it is here in South Georgia!!! This is my kind of fall day...warm enough that I can go barefoot and I am not so cold that I need to have my jacket on to keep from turning purple. It is also a great day to sit outside and count blessings and do Bible study in the swing under the carport. Kids are not home from school and the neighborhood is still quiet so I can think and reflect on how good God is to my family. Tomorrow it may rain but today is one beautiful day to make a memory.

Bob and I have been especially blessed this month with the many expressions of thanks and appreciation for the small part we play in the ministry of Westside Baptist Church. We are just so honored and humbled to be part of this wonderful church family. We truy count ourselves among the most blessed of people.

We have been to two Homecomings at different churches this year. One was at Lumber City Baptist Church where Bob grew up as a young boy and the other was at Friendship Baptist in Kingsland where we spent 22 years in Ministry as Interim, Pastor, and Minister of Education and Associate Pastor. In looking at the records, there were many starting dates for Bob but few dates of leaving. In fact, the only two times we left Friendship, we actually were enroute to Westside. Sometimes we are slow getting where God wants us to be and like the children of Israel, we wander in the desert until God gets things ready to put us where He planned for us to be all the time. Anyway, we are home now and this is where we hope He lets us stay.

Today has been a good day to reflect on Bible study, homecomings, seasons of our lives and many different things that keep us on target as Christians. It is a good day to sit outside and just talk to God and tell Him how wonderful He is , how awesome He is to create all the things He has made. How grand it is to tell God how much we love Him and that we look forward to more special moments like this when we can be with Him alone and without distractions.

Outside today, I have my notebook, something that I often do. I get to write down my thoughts and feelings for the moment. Some of the things I write down and keep and some things I write down and throw away because I don't always want everyone to know that I sometimes am afraid when everyone thinks I have it all together.

Writing in my notebook also gives me an opportunity to make notes or write questions that I want to ask Bob about later. There is not much that I ask that he does not know but sometimes I can ask something and get that "I don't know" answer that surprises him as much as me. I also use questions to help me study the Scripture. My memory is not what it use to be so this is a good way for me to study and something I learned to do when Deb was little. (Only she had a BibleStory book with questions in the end that was awesome - I hope she still has that book.

One of my questions that I wrote in my book is a "Who am I?" riddle. Maybe you know who it is.
"Before the nations I made proclamations. 'I thought it good to declare the signs and wonders that the Most High God has worked for me.' Then - one day while strolling through the palace my heart was full of sinful pride. I strutted about and boasted of what I had done 'by my mighty power and for the honor of 'my majesty'. Before I had finished speaking, my kingdom was taken from me, I was driven from men, ate grass like the oxen, and my hair grew like eagle feathers and my nails like claws. Before the end of my time, my understanding returned to me and I blessed the most high and I praised and honored Him Who lives forever. My kingdom was restored to me that day". The answer is Nebuchadnezzar.

This is a great story, especially to share with the children and lots of possibilities for questions. The clincher question is "What do we learn"? Enjoy the day. Read the Word and especially.......

Share God's Love,
Peggy
